LEGENDARY HALL OF FAME MEMBER AND RIDLER AWARD WINNER, CHUCK MILLER, sat down with me at last year's KKOA Lead Sled Spectacular in Salina, Kansas, and filled me in on his involvement over the last fourteen years with the Legendary DETROIT AUTORAMA.
Chuck is responsible for some key sections of the Detroit Show...including the CAVALCADE OF CUSTOMS ! AND, this year, in conjunction with the 70th Anniversary of the "1940 Ford", there'll be a Special Display of all different types of the "Fabulous '40". Coupes, Sedans, Convertibles, Trucks...you name it, Chuck's going to try to have it there !
PLUS, CHUCK MILLER has been designated with the honor of being the "2010 DETROIT AUTORAMA BUILDER OF THE YEAR" ! So Chuck and I talked about some of the rare cars that he's built during his long-career that will be featured at the show: "The Red Baron", "The Bunker Baron", "The FireTruck", his '71 Corvette Station Wagon, his '47 Ford "Creamsicle" Woodie, his hilarious, uniquely put-together, BMW...which is the World's Smallest Isetta "Taxi Cab", some of his classic "Zingers", and many, many other super cool cars that Chuck created.
As most of you know, Chuck was the Detroit Autorama Ridler Award Winner in 1968 for his fantastic "Fire Truck", and he's well overdue for the "Builder of the Year" honors.
If you attended last years show, here are a couple pix of the cars that were there that were previewed on this Site first.. If you weren't able to attend, you'll still enjoy Chuck's info on one of the country's Premier Events in this Exclusive Hall Of Fame Legends Series Interview.
AND, A big "thank you" to JEFF MYERS for sending me the pix of the amazing 50 Ford Custom he created for Mike Shea, and his personal '57 Caddy Eldo Seville. Jeff & the Kansas Crew DROVE these remarkable cars you see below to the 2009 DETROIT AUTORAMA !
SPECIAL UPDATE: February 23, 2010. I just got off the phone with Chuck, and he is Super-Excited about the Show and the festivities for the AUTORAMA this weekend ! My personal thanks to Chuck for inviting me to this year's Autorama. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I'm not going to be able to be there, but, hey, it's the thought that counts ! JK
