Like most of us, MARK MORIARITY has been a lifelong "car guy". Through the years' he's put together an impressive collection of vehicles, including two of my favorites: a cool '61 Impala, and the late-Paul Savelesky's '55 BelAir.
BUT one of Mark's most remarkable builds was the restoration of ED ROTH'S infamous, twin-engined "ROTAR" !
Mark is an old friend and a truly excellent craftsman. I was privileged to be at both ceremonies when he was Inducted into Darryl Starbird's National Rod & Custom Hall Of Fame, AND, the Kustom Kemps Of America Hall Of Fame in 2008.
With that in mind, listen as Mark talks about his early years, his wanting to own a famous custom, and his finding & restoring Ed Roth's "ROTAR".
BTW: What did the name "ROTAR" mean ? Simple: It was short for "Roth's Air Car" ! "Big Daddy" modestly claimed: "...there is a remote possibility that this will be the first car to reach the MOON !" JK
(Above: Ed "Big Daddy" Roth in "ROTAR". Was it a tight fit ? Judge for yourself ! )
