Built in 1960, DARRYL STARBIRD'S fantastic, futuristic, bubble top, the"Predicta", brought a whole new concept to the World of Rods & Customs ! Today, almost fifty years after its debut, it is still one of the most unique and special Award Winning Customs ever created.
The "Predicta", along with the "Forcasta", "Cosma Ray", "Futurista", "Illusion" and his other bubble top creations, earned Darryl the undisputed title: "The Bubble Top King".
Darryl restored the " Predicta" in 2006 , and unveiled this freshly painted & rechromed beauty at his 50th Anniversary Show in Wichita in January, 2007.
In the Spring of 2007, in this exclusive Interview recorded at Darryl's National Rod & Custom Hall of Fame Museum, he explains to Jonnie where the idea for this smooth, stunning, space-age machine came from...and how he's always "forward looking; looking to the future" for his concepts and designs.

("The Predicta" was built from a 1956 Thunderbird that had been wrecked. Above left: a brand new '56 T-Bird and ,in the background ,a lot full of new '56 Fords. Above right: an ad for the new '56 Thunderbird.)

(Above left: Monogram's "Predicta" Model Kit. Above right: Philco also made a Model called the "Predicta" in 1960...but their "Predicta" was a TV Set !)
Darryl actually got the idea from the above-mentioned Philco Predicta to use that same, futuristic name for his "sculpture in steel" automotive masterpiece ? There's also an original model of the Philco "Predicta" TV set displayed with the car at the National Rod & Custom Hall Of Fame Museum. JK
