Longtime Industry Writer, Editor, Photographer, JERRY WEESNER, and, Legendary Rodder, the late-NORM GRABOWSKI, clued me in on Crusin' Hollywood Boulevard in 1957 !
They're both great story tellers with memories of what was truly the "birth" of R&C Crusin' in those early days in California.
This is one of my favorite Interviews, because in the 60's I actually lived in Hollywood...and it brings back warm memories for me too. Thanks again Norm & "Weez". JK
(Above: Hollywood Boulevard in the 1940's, shortly after WWII, and just before R&C Crusin' began. Many of the places shown here still exist. The Pantages Theater on the left side of the pic is still in operatiion daily.)
(Above left: Hollywood's legendary "M'Goo's"; Above right: Norm's infamous "Kookie Kar" that Cruised M'Goo's !)
(Above: My Apartment Building - the big white building at the top of the pic - on Highland Ave., Hollywood. Highland Ave. & Hollywood Blvd. intersect a few blocks down. And, about a quarter-mile up Highland Ave. is the Hollywood Bowl. I loved it there !)
(Above: That's yours truly on a picnic in Griffith Park, L.A., circa 1964. Pic was taken by my girlfriend at the time, Sandy. She was cute !)
