GENE WINFIELD IS ONE OF THE MOST CREATIVE customizers and builders in the History of Rods & Customs. In the early 1960's, Gene was a part of the Ford Custom Car Caravan and created an unusual and very cool custom called the "Pacifica".
The "Pacifica" was based on a 1962 Ford Econoline Pick-Up, and toured extensively around the Country. Actually, its first appearance was in Portland, Oregon, and Gene's story about driving the vehicle from Modesto to Portland is one of the best you'll hear !
A couple of year's ago, Gene told me that he was beginning work on the Econoline, but by our Interview at the 33rf Annual KKOA Lead Sled Spectacular in Salina, Kansas...he had it finished and brought it for all to see ! (That's it shown above ! Photo Courtesy of my friend Travis at www.royboyproductions.com )
And, yes, during our late-night Interview Gene, gave me the entire story of the "Pacifica" from its first build in 1962, to the re-creation of it that now tours all-over again.
AS A SIDE-NOTE: Gene & I needed a quiet room to do the Interview in and our friend, JOHN D'AGOSTINO, let us use his...while he worked on his Facebook Page in the background ! Thanks again, John ! JK
