THE ROOTS OF THE ROCKABILLY MOVEMENT were planted in the early-50's. Originally, country music-based artists like Bill Haley, Boyd Bennett, Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Joe Bennett & The Sparkletones, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, and many others, shifted and changed from their "country" roots, to blend Rock & Roll into the mix.
All of a sudden the whole World was "Rockabilly Crazy"... the epidemic spread over the USA & Europe like wildfire ! Popular singer Guy Mitchell who had #1 Hits with "Singing The Blues" & "Heartaches By The Number", even had a 1957 #10 Hit Record on Columbia about this newest Worldwide phenomenon, simply titled "Rock-A-Billy", that stayed on the U.S. Charts for 17 weeks...and was also a #1 Chart Topper in the U.K. !
"...and, thus, 'The Stuff Of Legends' was born !"
IN THE LATE-80'S & EARLY 90'S a resurgence of the "Rockabilly Movement" began in the Rod & Custom Culture...and today it's bigger, and badder, than it ever was: pompadors, rolled-up T-shirt sleeves, hard-core denim dungaree's with cuffs, biker-boots, biker-babes, "Bettie's" galore...and, tats to match yer mood !
Now, I've known BO HUFF for a long time, he's a good friend, and is one of the coolest "Rockabilly Kats" on the Planet ! So, when he was putting his rare '42 Ford Business Coupe together, he went with a pure "Bad Attitude", in-your-face Rockabilly Theme...and knocked it out of the park !!
THE FIRST TIME I SAW BO'S '42 FORD, the "Rockabilly Hound Dog", at Darryl Starbird's Tulsa Rod & Custom Show in February, 2012...I thought it was just super-kool ! BUT, when Bo & his Crew brought it to the 32nd Annual KKOA Lead Sled in Salina, July, 2012, I got to see the real power of it in the 100 Degree Kansas sun, and it truly had one of the baddest "tude's" (as Bo would say) that I've EVER seen ! So when we joined-up for a Sunday Morning In Salina Interview, the RHD was on my mind.
Bo was in a great mood, feeling better than he has for awhile, still undergoing treatments for his Cancer...but, you'd never know it from his perfect sense-of-humour, and the stories that he shared with me about the RHD, his newest '36 Ford Humpback build, and, the Rockabilly Movement in Calfornia.
Bo and his Crew are always fun to spend time with, and, as usual , you'll want to share the link to this story with a friend. It's short, sweet, and, has Bo's own personal kool "tude" involved ! JK

BO HUFF WAS A GREAT FRIEND, and was one of the nicest, most talented builder's to ever light-up a torch. He went through a lot with many health problems the last few years of his life, and, sadly, passed away on August 4th, 2015.
We usually talked to each other every week or so, and, even during his illness, his spirit and desire to keep cranking out great customs still ignited him to not only want to "raise the bar", but to "set the bar" for others to follow.
I'm so glad that we were able to do all of the Interviews that we did during the year's, because now Bo's great stories about his life, his cars, and his passion for everything to do with Rods & Customs, can be heard right here on the HOF Legends Site for all to learn from and enjoy World Wide...24/7/365 !
R.I.P., my friend. Like you always said, we were like "family".
